This project was a complete tear off on a flat roof located in the beautiful Ravenswood neighborhood of Chicago, IL. First, we did a core sample to determine how many layers were on the roof. The roof had several layers that had been applied over the years. Everything was removed down to the wood roof deck. Any wood that damaged or rotting was replaced to create a strong roofing substrate. Insulation and a base sheet were fastened with screws and plates to the deck. Next, gravel stop was installed and the the modified bitumen membrane manufactured by GAF was applied with a torch to ensure this roof is water tight with a 10 year warranty. Lastly the copping tiles were placed in cement and the modified bitumen roofing membrane was protected with a silver coating.
