Modified Bitumen Repair to Curbs for Ventilation and HVAC Units

Img

As a roofing contractor, we were called in to repair a modified bitumen roof that had been damaged around several vents and HVAC units. Upon inspection, we found that the roofing material had been punctured by the vents and units, allowing water to seep in and causing damage to the underlying roof deck.

To repair the damage, we first removed any loose or damaged roofing material from around the vents and units. We then cut patches of modified bitumen that were slightly larger than the damaged areas and used a torch to heat the patches until they were pliable.

We then pressed the patches onto the damaged areas, using a roller to ensure that they were properly adhered. We then coated the patches with a layer of modified bitumen adhesive to further seal them in place.

Finally, we installed new flashing around the vents and units to provide an additional layer of protection against water infiltration.

Overall, the repair process was relatively straightforward, but it was important to take care to ensure that the patches were properly adhered and sealed to prevent further damage to the roof. We are confident that the repair will provide long-lasting protection for the roof and prevent any further water infiltration issues.
